As a Software Engineer on the Developer Velocity team, you will design and build internal platforms, tooling, and automation to empower Render engineers to move quickly and safely. This involves driving improvements in local development environments, CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, and relevant metrics. Your responsibilities include enhancing the speed and reliability of early change feedback by investing in build and dependency tooling, caching, incremental builds, and monorepo ergonomics. You will accelerate CI/CD pipelines to cut build, test, and deploy times while maintaining a safe path to production, and make test suites fast and trustworthy through parallelization, smart test selection, and flaky-test detection. The role also includes designing and building tools for concurrent agent execution to ensure fast test feedback and provide agents with the necessary context. You will simplify and establish repeatable patterns, reducing toil through automation and instrumenting the engineering organization with meaningful signals (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, time to restore) to drive action. Additionally, you will build and participate in an on-call rotation for critical systems.
